Rotary dryer BS 1,2

A rotary dryer designed for bulk materials drying by furnace gases. Such dryers are used in construction materials industries in various processing lines. The most common drying units are designed for the following raw material: limestone rotary dryer, clay rotary dryer, pellets rotary dryer, sand rotary dryer, chalk rotary dryer, coal rotary dryer, kaolin rotary dryer, gypsum rotary dryer, and so on. The particles lump size should not exceed 60 mm.  A drying aggregate`s operation principle occurs when the cylindrical drum of the dryer rotates and the material simultaneously floats to the direction of the discharge chute. The hot air goes to the casing and while contacting the material, heats it up. Moisture evaporation occurs inside the dryer`s casing. The drying of the unit changes depending on the raw material moisture at the drum input and the required moisture of the finished material.

Rotary dryer selection depends on a type of the material to be dried.

The advantages of rotary dryers over the types of drying equipment (shaft dryer, rhomb-shaped and others):

  • Flexibility;
  • Heating up evenness and drying of particles by means of intense material mixing;
  • Ability to dry highly wet and littered material;
  • Simplicity of commissioning and start up (capital facilities are not required for turning into operation);
  • High efficiency (drying is performed several times faster than in shaft dryers);
  • Operation reliability (dead zone formation is excluded);
  • Reasonable price;
  • Low power consumption

Generally, drying equipment is divided into the following types:

  • Dyers for common purpose; 
  • Granulating dryers

Depending on the requirement of the engineering process and the arrangement of a rotary dryer, the manufactured rotary dryers vary by (on users’ requests and agreed technical task):

  • Counter flow rotary dryers and direct flow rotary dryers;
  • With the drum slope angle from 1 to 4 degrees;
  • With left and right drive arrangement;
  • With unloading and loading chambers or without them;
  • Drum`s casing: corrosion-resistant, carbon or heatproof steel

Also, the rotating dryers can be: batch rotary dryers and continuous rotary dryers.
The drying cylinder consists of a casing, support and thrust station, support station, drive, tyres, and a toothed gear.  The drum casing is a welding structure made of separate sidewalls. Various types of heads are installed inside the casing for catalization of heat transfer depending on a drum modification:

  • at the very beginning; screw type, on the whole part of the drum lifting blade type;
  • at the very beginning - screw type, in the middle drum part - lifting blade and chain type;
  • at the very beginning - screw type, in the middle drum part - lifting blade and sector type and as agreed with the customer the following heads are installed: 
  • chain-type
  • combined
  • cell-type
  • distributing
