Pulverizing Working Principle

Pulverizers (homogenizers) are designed for pulverizing, homogenizing, and moistening the mixture in the production of silica brick.

Pulverizer (homogenizer) consists of a drum casing, chargehole lid, bottom, thrust roller system, loading chute supports, feed chute, and a drive unit. The drum casing of a pulverizer is lined from the inside with rubber plates which protect the casing from wearing. On the drum casing of a pulverizer, there is a manhole which is designed to ease maintenance and discharge windows for the exit of the pulverized material.

The drum casing of the pulverizing mill is closed by a lid with a hollow journal, through which materials feeding into the drum is conducted. From the discharge end the casing is protected with a bottom, containing a central gear shaft.

In order to preserve the pulverizer mill from wearing, the surface of the bottom is lined with plates made of high-manganese steel. The drum assembly of a pulverizing unit is mounted on the carrying roller from the feeding side. A carrying roller consists of a split casing and two rollers fixed on the axes. Radially–spherical bearings are mounted on the rollers. The drum of the pulverizing aggregate rests on a support from the discharge side consisting of a support casing and a radially–spherical bearing.

The drive of a rod pulverizer-homogenizer consists of an electric motor, V-belt transmission, gear box and a flexible coupling. The drum rotation happens by an operating drive unit through a flexible coupling and a central drive shaft.

First, the material is entered into the charging chute of the pulverizing equipment; then it goes through the cover hollow trunnion and enters the drum. The material gets homogenized inside of the drum and pulverized by the rods. Thereafter, the feed material gets inside of a discharge chute through unloading drum windows. Finally, the pulverized and homogenized material is ready to be used for its intended purposes.

The raw material mixture, entered inside of the pulverizer-homogenizer, should not exceed the hardness of more than 106 Pa and maximum particles size of 100 mm. The moisture rate of the content inside of the pulverizing machine shall not exceed 8 %.
